Description
for auction is a vintage, early, Small Charles Parker & Co. 2 1/4'' wide jaws bench mount vise No. 20. It was made in Meriden Ct. The total length of the vise in the closed position 8 1/2'' long front to back. The vise weighs 7 pound 10. 6 ounces as pictured. The vise is a recent find. It has been partially cleaned. . It is operating well and there is no cracks or breaks in the casting. The vise is unusual, in that it has a spring wrapped around the adjusting thread this moves the front section of the vise. ( see pictures 10 & 11) This makes the front vise section open when the threaded handle is turned. The front section is spring tensioned instead of having a normal captive plate the holds the threaded handle in place. There is no provision for the normal captive plate on the front section of the vise. ( see picture 2) The vise at one time had a separate circular cast metal plate that would make the vise a swivel base. It is no longer present. I never did locate it when I bought the vise. The last issue to note it the horn of the anvil is missing. There is a hole in its' place making me believe this anvil/ horn was a two part applied horn. The tool has signs of user wear and tear, but over all very solid example on an early Charles Parker vise. Please see all pictures for condition. Ask questions before you bid. Any information will be appreciated. Buyer pays shipping with delivery confirmation usps priority mail. thanks for looking.I have never owned this model before but there is one searched through Google
